As always, the garments in this collection are named after our feminist heroes.
Academy Award winning actor and gender equality extraordinaire Geena Davis isn’t afraid to call out the film industry for its gender imbalance and unconditional bias against women. With her non-profit company, this star of A League of Their Own and Thelma & Louise is changing the conversation around gender on screen.
This collection is a collaboration of Action Aid Myanmar, Action Aid Australia. This landmark partnership is sponsored by the Australian Government. The collection is made by women’s social enterprise MBoutik in the Magwe region of Myanmar.
Each piece is created to allude to a heavily tailored silhouette, but is deceptively simple in its construction - a design decision that is not just a perfect fit for The Fabric Social’s minimalist aesthetic, but also allows us to work with MBoutik’s tailors whose lack of reliable electricity precludes the use of modern electric sewing machines.
