As always, the garments in this collection are named after our feminist heroes. Alice Walker is an ardent advocate of equal rights, whether that’s for women or for people of colour. From her time as an activist in the Civil Rights Movement, to her poems that gave voice to black feminists, to her Pulitzer Prize winning novel The Color Purple, Walker truly is a force to be reckoned with. (She’s also a mate of political activist Arundhati Roy, who features in our Charcoal/Salt collection.)
The Alice is made by the incredible women of Srishti Handlooms from hand-spun and hand-woven eri-silk and khadi-cotton. This fabric is produced by women in conflict-affected Assam, India following strict principles of environmental sustainability and social responsibility. The Alice is washed, dyed and stitched in Kolkata by our fairtrade partners at Sasha.
